Eye lift surgery

Eye lift surgery which is also known as eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty, includes the diminishing of your loose and floppy bottom eyelids and your surplus skin on the upper eyelid, so that you look more youthful and beautiful.

Most of us know eye lift surgery as a cosmetic surgery, but it is also a good way to correct the aged people vision because their upper eyelid comes down in front of their sight. We call it cosmetic surgery because it is not necessary as a medical procedure and it is done only for better appearance.

Blepharoplasty surgery is not used to remove the dark parts under eyes or any wrinkles. One tip that you should notice is the difference between upper eyelid blepharoplasty and upper eyelid ptosis. In ptosis surgery the doctor tries to harden the eyelid muscle or tendon so that eyelid’s edge location would be higher. Usually the people would do blepharoplasty together with forehead lift or filler injection surgeries.

But how does the eyelid become droopy? As we grow older, our skin starts to lose its elasticity slowly. It occurs along with the weakness of face muscles. That becomes noticeable when your eyelids puff up and wrinkle.

During the operation

During the eye lift surgery, the surgeon would decide that which part of your eyelid skin or fats must be taken. He will make some incisions along the natural folds of eyelid’s skin so that later after complete treatment none of cuts would be noticeable. Then he would remove the additional skin or fat or muscle from the eyelid. For the lower eyelid, the surgeon can use two methods. One is to make an incision inside the lower eyelid to take the fat out. Another method is to make incisions along the eyelash margin and remove the excess tissues.

Are you a good candidate for blepharoplasty surgery?

First of all we should say that you must be realistic. Your skin would continue to wrinkle as you get older. So no cosmetic surgery improvement would last forever. If eye lift surgery is not a necessary operation for you it is better to consider it first with an eye doctor.

If someone has droopy and loose skin and eyelids in a way that it covers a part of your eye and cause vision problems, you are a good candidate for this surgery.

Some other reasons that can make someone to have this surgery is the problem in using glasses or contact lenses because of the puffiness in the eyelids. If someone experience irritation because of eyelid’s skin folds, he can do the surgery too.
