 Chesty cough is one of the serious complications that in case of development, one should seek for treatment promptly. This type of coughing can be seen mostly in children, specially in cold months of the year. Unfortunately, this type of cough usually develops after flues which are neglected or not treated properly .Once any individual catch the flue or cold, he or she may have symptoms such as runny nose, pharyngeal infections and bad smell in the throat area. In these cases one can notice the tightness of chest and presence of phlegm in those areas. Usually in these cases, swallowing food and even water can be difficult for patient.

You may have faced this question that why coughs become phlegmy? In many cases, the main reason behind this type of coughs is seasonal flues or presence of a virus in patient’s body. In this case, these coughs may cause you difficulties for seven to ten days until they completely be treated.  During this procedure, the immune system of body is highly affected and all the phlegm should be removed from nose or throat, regularly. Otherwise, breathing would become difficult for the patient.

Those people who face this complication should be more careful about their diet, avoid greasy food and follow a healthy diet. Usually in these cases, having a healthy diet can be very beneficial in the general health of patient and treating several different diseases. Foods such as turnip soup can be helpful. Patients should avoid drinking cold water. You have to also avoid eating unhealthy oils and fried foods.

Incensing is one of the best ways for treating chesty cough and excretion of excess fluid and phlegm from the body. To do so, you can boil water and add a little bit of thyme to it. After that, you can cover your head with a towel and try to breathe the heat of this mixture. This can help you to open the air paths of your respiratory system and eventually the phlegm would be removed from your body.

Gargling with salt water

Salt can kill all the bacteria in the throat region. Add a little bit of natural sea salt to some warm water and gargle it three times per day. In this case, throat infections can be removed in a couple of days. Continue this treatment for a couple of days to see its effects.

You can use natural honey to cure many different diseases. Natural honey can kill viruses and destroy bacteria. Its combination with fresh lemon can improve these effects. Consequently, drinking a mixture of warm water, lemon and natural honey can treat the coughs effectively.

Symptoms of chesty coughs include: difficulties in breathing, sensation of infection smell in the respiratory tract and runny nose. These symptoms can also be triggered due to several diseases or being exposed to allergic agents. To treat these coughs, medical examinations are necessary so that the main reason of such coughs can be diagnosed and treated.
